  • Taxus brevifolia and named it 'taxol'. When Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) licensed the compound for sale they claimed rights to the name as well and people responded by referring to the generic name as 'paclitaxel'.
  • Paclitaxel is a mitotic inhibitor used in cancer chemotherapy. It was discovered in a National Cancer Institute program at the Research Triangle Institute

Process

  • Bioxel’s new SMB process has increased product yield and through-put, removed other trace impurities and has reduced or eliminated undesired solvents.

  • taxol application could enhance axonal growth of neurons cultured on an inhibitory substrate.
