- A sack is a bag,
especially a large one for carrying or storing goods.
- High density
polyethylene is one of the largest volume plastics in packaging today.
- Some of the products
made from HDPE are: gallon juice and milk jugs, cosmetic bottles, caps,
pails, crates, bag liners, grocery bags, cereal wrappers, snack-food
wrappers, diary cups, pallets, tubs, water tanks, and shipping
containers.
- Paper bags are
suitable for PE coating when the contents or climates call for a
moisture barrier.
- Valved sacks have to
be quickly filled with cement and other powdered material using
compressed air. These filling methods place some extremely tough demands
on the paper.
- Polyethylene bags
manufactured using 100 percent "Super Hexene" linear low density
polyethylene resin will be permitted as a substitute for the specified
mil thickness.
- The thickness of
bags manufactured using "Super Hexene" may be 1.0 mil less than that
specified for the average and minimum thickness.
- Most polybags are
made out using petrochemical raw material called low density polymer.
- LDPE (low density
polyethylene) and its cousin LLDPE (linear low density polyethylene) are
the workhorses of the poly bag industry.
- Polyethylene Bags
are made by heat sealing and cutting rolls of film. Rolls of tubing or
sheeting are fed through a machine that draws material out to the proper
length.
- The machine then
cycles to place a seal on the material and then cut it off to make an
individual bag. In some cases, with small bags, machine cycle speeds may
produce up to 70,000 bags per hour.
- Poly bags, also
known as polythene bags, have a variety of uses in many industries.
- In the apparel,
garment, sew goods, fabric and related industries, poly bags are use to
protect goods during shipment from dirt, dust, and moisture.
- Polythene bags have
become the most widely used commodity in plastics when compared with
other plastic items.
- Plastic bags have
captured more than 80 percent of the supermarket and convenience store
packaging market at a cost of $4 billion to U.S. retailers
annually.
