General
- Holography is the
science of producing holograms.
- A
hologram is an advanced form of photography that allows an image to
be recorded in three dimensions.
- Holograms have a
unique feature, known as "parallax" , according to which a viewer
observes the virtual object from different perspectives in full
three-dimensional.
Process
- A
hologram can capture a 3-D image so lifelike that you can look
around the image of the apple to an orange in the background
- Holograms are
classified into different types with reference to the degree of
level of optical security incorporated in them during the process of
master origination.
- The reflection or
Denisyuk hologram, is capable of multicolour image reproduction
using a white light illumination source on the same side of the
hologram as the viewer.
Making
- It doesn't take
very many tools to make a hologram. You can make one with
laser, Lenses, beam splitter,
Mirrors, Holographic film.
- The
first step to making hologram is setting up an optical table. This
is simply a device to neutralize as many vibrations as possible.
-
When making a hologram even the smallest vibrations (100ths of a
millimeter) can cause your image to get ruined.
- It is often
necessary in optical experiments to produce computer-generated
holograms (CGHs) of reasonable quality for the purpose of routing
light. Such holograms are often created using a pressing process
that is not normally done in-house and is very expensive for small
runs.
Application
& Technology
- Holograms also
have the advantages of providing security, brand protection and
enhancement and preventing fraudulent practices.
- Currently the
holograms have come a long way from the sticker, it can be designed
to be applied in whatever way the customer wants.
- Recent
improvements in hologram recording techniques shows a strong promise
for holography to emerge as a powerful tool for medical
applications.
- The technique
employed to make three-dimensional images is known as holography.
Market
- According to an
estimate, there are about 300 companies worldwide making up this
sector of holograph. The market comprises large international,
national, and regional companies and even individuals.
- Hologram sales of
divisions of privately owned companies had average sales of $19.5
million and larger public companies had sales of $17 million
annually.
- This Hologram
comprises the key market sectors of brand protection, packaging,
security print, retail and promotion and illustration, as well as
equipment sales and installations related to these.
- The hologram
market in India has been growing at about 55-60 per cent per annum
over the last couple of years.
