- Hair care is an
overall term for parts of hygiene and cosmetology involving the hair on
the human head. The most important element of hair care is one's hair
type. Hair care will differ according to one's hair type and according
to various processes that can be applied to hair. All hair is not the
same; indeed, hair is a manifestation of human diversity.
- Coconut oil has a
long shelf life compared to other oils, lasting up to two years due to
its resilience to high temperatures. Coconut oil is best stored in solid
form - i.e. at temperatures lower than 24.5 °C (76°F) in order to extend
shelf life. However, unlike most oils, coconut oil will not be damaged
by warmer temperatures.
Manufacturing Process
- Jojoba
(pronounced ho-ho-ba) oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the
crushed bean of the jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinenis). Virgin
coconut oil, also known as the "wonder oil," is packed with
nutritional and other health-giving benefits. There are various ways
to produce virgin coconut oil, which come from coconut meat, milk or
residue.
- The manufacturing
of virgin coconut oil and flour involves two processing methods
either by the Dry process which involves drying of grinded coconut
meat, oil extraction and pulverizing the meal or by Wet process
wherein the meat is extracted with milk, drying of the residue and
grinding to produce the flour.
Application
& Technology
- The Electric
Power Corporation (EPC) in cooperation with the Government of Samoa
and UNDP Samoa are undertaking the preparatory phase of the Coconut
Oil for Power Generation (CocoGen) project. Coconut oil can replace
diesel fuel through using blends, straight coconut oil, or using
biodiesel. For biodiesel made from coconut oil, no alterations to
engines are required.
- The use of
coconut oil in engines is not new. Coconut oil is extracted in
high-pressure presses from copra, the dried flesh of the coconut.
The better grades of copra – those that have been dried in a hot-air
drier, rather than sun or smoke dried – are best for producing
coconut oil for fuel. Coconut oil reduces our need for vitamin
E. Virgin Coconut Oil is especially useful in fighting free-radicals
- Silicones have
played a major role in product development (1), in part because of
their ability as conditioning agents for softness and manageability,
but also because they impart shine. silicone technology can be used
to improve hair softness and conditioning, materials based on new
