General
Information
- Dichlorvos
(2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate, DDVP) is a widely used
organophosphorus insecticide.
- Dichlorvos (dimethyl
2, 2-dichlorovinyl phosphate) inhibits the biosynthesis of
aflatoxin by Aspergillus parasiticus
- The insecticides
dichlorvos, paradichlorobenzene and naphthalene have been
commonly used to
eradicate pest insects from natural history collections.
Mechanism
- The
photosensitized degradation of dichlorvos (DDVP) in presence of
H2Oe under UV irradiation was established a pseudo-first order
kinetics in respect to DDVP degradation, Cl- release and PO4 -3
liberation and calculated their rate constants. It was also
showed the role of H2O2 concentration.
- The hydrolysis of
Dichlorvos (DDVP) in aqueous solutions of different pH0
resulting from H2SO4 or NaOH addition was studied.
- The analytical
methods that are available for detecting, and/or measuring,
and/or monitoring dichlorvos, its metabolites, and other
biomarkers of exposure and effect to dichlorvos was described.
- The photocatalytic
degradation of an organophosphorous insecticide, dichlorvos,
using two different photocatalysts
(TiO2 and ZnO) has been investigated.
Application
- Dichlorvos is an
insecticide used on crops, animals, and in pest-strips. Acute
(short-term) and chronic (long-term) exposures of humans to
dichlorvos results in the inhibition of an enzyme,
acetylcholinesterase, with neurotoxic effects including
perspiration, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, fatigue, headache,
and at high concentrations, convulsions, and coma.
- The insecticides
dichlorvos, paradichlorobenzene and naphthalene have been
commonly used to eradicate pest insects from natural history
collections.
Market &
Report
- It has been
reported that with the extension of application time of the
nanoemulsion DDVP of the German cockroach inhibition of AchE was
volatile, and its mode of action is completely different from
normal EC.
- Currently only one
manufacturer, in California, can be clearly documented as
producing technical grade dichlorvos in the United States.
- During past
decades a total of 1,116,000 kg (2.44 million pounds) of
dichlorvos were used in agricultural applications with 16,000 kg
(35,000 pounds) being used on crops and 1.1 million kg (2.4
million pounds) being used on livestock and livestock buildings.
- In the fierce
market comp etition, dichlorvos as a tradit ional product is
cons tantly challenged by new products.
- The market price
of 90% dichlorvos technical is around RMB18 000 perton, whereas
the market p rice of similar insecticides
